The Northfield Conservation Commission will be hosting a public hike up Paine Mountain on Sunday morning, July 15. We'll meet at the Green Mountain Family Practice at 9:45am for a 10:00 start. The 6 mile hike is a gradual, but steady grade passing through the Town Forest, including Cheney Field, before arriving at the summit of Paine Mountain. Total time of hike is normally between 4 and 5 hours. For those who would just like to visit Cheney Field and return, the total hiking distance would be about 1 mile. Please leave pets at home and be sure to bring adequate water and food. We normally enjoy a light lunch at the summit.
