Explore Cameron McKinney’s NAGARE technique – which activates oppositional forces and contrasting sensations to achieve fluid transitions – in this two-hour workshop that combines the grace of modern dance with the speed and fluidity of streetdance, capoeira, and house dance. Focus on how to move smoothly from high to low to high again through dance phrases that involve every part of the body while rediscovering “the down” through floorwork from contemporary dance forms. By shifting the focus from an internal dialogue to creating movement that tells a story, the class will delve deeper into the cathartic potential of sweat and exhaustion, while offering a new and active method of expression. This workshop introduces a unique approach to contemporary floorwork, while also exploring the rawness of underground streetdance.
