The Stranahan Forest Stewardship Committee is planning a workday to clean around an historic large home and barn foundation. This work is part of the preparations for a Celebrate Marshfield Day in August. We expect to have an area mowed in front of the foundation with picnic tables. We will have a meal and some ecological and history talks and walks. We expect to be able to transport people unable to walk the approximately 0.5 miles in from Hollister Hill. We hope more people will become familiar with this great resource and return to enjoy its many life-enhancing benefits. We also hope this will; be a regular event bringing residents of our great little town together to focus on all the positive aspects of living in town, not the least of which is the great people living here.
The workday is Saturday July 14th 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a simple meal. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Please bring long and short handled brush cutters, a pitch fork, sun screen and bug spray. For ticks suggest long sleeve shirt, pants inside socks and spray cloths with a DEET- containing spray. Still need to check when you get home. I have picked up ticks at this location and you will be in tall weeds.
We will meet at the Hollister Hill entrance at 9:00 AM
Please reply whether or not you can join us. This is your forest
