Fight Housing Discrimination: Vermont Legal Aid seeks volunteer housing discrimination testers. Testers are like secret shoppers. They contact landlords, view apartments and report their experiences back to the test coordinator. Who can be a tester? You can.* We need a diverse group of testers to make our program work. People with apparent physical disabilities, parents, African American men and women, and individuals with "foreign" accents are especially encouraged to apply. Testers are paid a cash stipend and mileage for each completed test. *Volunteers must be 18 or older. Testers must attend a training and meet HUD program requirements.
Vermont Legal Aid will be here to present an informational meeting about how to become involved in this project. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 11:00-1:00, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bennington, 108 School Street. Coffee and tea will be served. To request accommodations, please contact Lynn Mazza, VCIL-Bennington at 802-442-1876 or lmazza@vcil.org. The event is free, but please register to be sure there are enough materials: Devon Ayers at dayers@vtlegalaid.org or 1-800-889-2047
