Family Friendly Contra Dance in Peacham July 3

Past event
Jul 3, 2018, 7 to 10 PM

TUESDAY evening, July 3rd at the Town Gym from 7 to 10 PM. The gym is over the Peacham Post Office, located at 79 Church St. This is a FAMILY Friendly even. ALL levels of dance experience welcome! Beginners are especially encouraged to give this exciting traditional dance style a try. It is fun and easy! Each dance is taught with clear step by step instructions.

The dance caller is Robin Russell who lives in central Vermont and does an excellent job keeping the dances interesting yet accessible to the less experienced dancers.

Music will be provided by Footworks, described as follows:

Inspired by the foot-stomping, energetic dance music of Cape Breton, "Footworks" is a lively Vermont-based instrumental band formed by a mix of young blood and seasoned contra dance players. Members of Footworks have played in Northern Spy, Yann Falquet, and at such venues as Cafe Lena, Tracy Hall contra dances, and the Boston Celtic Music Festival. With three fiddles, whistle, cittern, and guitar, Footworks' driving jigs and reels are bound to get your feet tapping to the beat.

Donations of refreshments are always welcome – especially on a hot summers night!

There will be water available to help you keep hydrated.

Financial donations to support the band are also greatly appreciated but not required!

I hope you will all help spread the word about this dance to family, friends, co-workers and anyone else that could use a fun evening of dance and community.

Please bring the kids as these dances are great fun for the younger dancers.

The Peacham Independence Day celebration is a wonderful event featuring the Tractor Parade, Horseshoe Tournament, Fire-fighter Games, Ghost Walk, Pig Roast dinner and much more.
