Celebrate our local veterans and farmers on July 4th at a town picnic from noon-2 p.m. at the Pownal American Legion pavilion! Mark Bowen from the Vermont Farmer Veteran Coalition will be our guest speaker, and we'll serve a delicious lunch of BBQ pulled chicken and pork sandwiches from Harwood Homestead, with side salads from Winchester's. Adults are $5 and kids 12 and under are free. Local farm products will be for sale and kids can play outdoor games in the field. The July 4th town picnic is part of the Discover Pownal Farms and Food Series and is supported by a Small and Inspiring grant from the Vermont Community Foundation. All proceeds will support future farm and food events in Pownal.
