Theatrical Adaptation of Amazon Warrior Myth, UP YOUR AESTHETIC, to Make Vermont Premiere at Brandon Town Hall
"up your aesthetic", an adaptation of the myths of the Amazon warriors, will make its Vermont premiere at Brandon Town Hall on Sunday, July 8 at 7 P.M. The performance will be the first stop on a four-city tour across the East Coast, culminating in a five-day run at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C. The intimate and interactive production is presented by Glass Attic Collective, a New York-based theatre company. Seats may be reserved at uyabrandon.eventbrite.com; suggested donations of $10 will be accepted at the door. Collaboratively written and adapted from the Ancient Greek myths of the Amazons, up your aesthetic disrupts the myths' oppressive origins and reclaims the stories through a ritual for othered, excluded, and historically misrepresented people. The ensemble cast features Jess Cummings, Constance des Marais, Katherine Paterson, and Cheyanne Williams. The production's creative and production team includes Nola Werlinich (Production Designer), Susana Hair (Associate Production Designer), Chloe Briskin (Stage Manager), and Megumi Lee (Producer).
About Glass Attic Collective
The Glass Attic Collective is an ensemble of performers, designers, directors, writers, and artists whose goal is to create work that broadens the scope of theater by incorporating elements of dance, sound art, music, and visual art, while simultaneously expanding theatrical scope to include untold histories and underrepresented bodies. Their method prioritizes research, experimentation, and process over product. Emphasizing collaboration, they work simultaneously and collectively on design, performance, and text. They aim to create a rigorous practice of performance making, culminating in work that is interdisciplinary and inclusive. For more information, check out www.glassatticcollective.com.
