On July 12, the Town of Richmond will host its second public workshop to assist with the development of a management plan for the Richmond Town Forest and its 428 acres of woodland, wetlands, streams, and meadows.
Over 80 people attended the first workshop in January and more than 300 people participated in a survey about their vision for the Town Forest. That feedback has been incorporated into a draft vision for the town forest and strategies to achieve that vision.
The July 12 workshop gives the public an opportunity to offer input on that vision and strategies to help ensure that the town forest management plan aligns with community values and priorities.
The workshop will be held on Thursday, July 12, from 7 - 9 PM in the Richmond Free Library's second-floor community room. Anyone with an interest in the forest and its future is invited to attend.
More information and updates on the Richmond Town Forest can be found on the Facebook page by that name and under "Boards and Minutes" at the Town's website, richmondvt.gov. The planning project is supported by a grant from the Vermont Urban and Community Forestry Program, the Open Space Institute, and the Town of Richmond Conservation Fund.
