Based on the beloved film and winner of 10 Tony Awards® including Best Musical, Billy Elliot: The Musical Live from London's West End is a celebration of one of the world's most popular and successful stage shows.
A modern-day fairy tale of a young boy who exchanges boxing gloves for ballet shoes, Billy's story is set during the 1980's miner's strike in northern England, where his determination inspires an entire community.
From the creative team behind the original film and music legend Elton John, this story of self-discovery, determination, love, and hope is brought to life in this funny, uplifting, and spectacular experience.
Billy Elliot is the son of a British coal-miner. The miners, including his father and brother, are on strike . Billy is secretly taking dance lessons until his father forbids him from continuing the lessons. His dance instructor convinces Billy to audition for the Royal Ballet School in London.
The musical follows the ups and downs Billy experiences as he deals with his family opposition to his dancing and the propmpting of his dance instructor to prepare for the London audition. All of this is coupled with the on going miners' efforts to improve conditions in the mines and salaries.
A long running stage production, the musical was the winner of 10 Tony awards.
The musical is free and open to everyone; donations appreciated. Popcorn supplied by Berkshire Bank, water by FOLA. Information: (802)228-7239 / www.fola.us.
