Should Reading consider Public Water and/or Sewer in Felchville? Come to an Informational Meeting on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the Reading Town Hall regarding funding from the VT Department of Environmental Conservation (VT DEC) to conduct a water and sewer feasibility study for Felchville.

The Town of Reading is considering applying for a Planning Advance grant from the VT DEC to conduct a feasibility study for public water and wastewater in the village of Felchville. Representatives from the DEC (Lynnette Clauden of the Facilities Engineering Division, Ashley Lucht from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, and Terry Shearer from the Springfield office regarding septic permitting) will be on hand to discuss the program and what owners of small parcels would have to do to comply with current septic regulations.

Many properties in Felchville currently share drinking water wells and many are too small to allow for septic systems that are compliant with current state regulations. These issues can hinder property sales and commercial development in the village. As the Town embarks on efforts to revitalize the village center, water and sewer needs must be addressed. Tell your friends and neighbors to come to this important meeting with your questions and concerns as we start this planning process. If you cannot attend this meeting but want to be involved in the feasibility study, contact Becky Basch at rebeccabasch@comcast.net.
