TWANGTOWN PARAMOURS AT THE SALISBURY CHURCH
On Friday evening, July 6 , at 7:30 p.m., the Salisbury Congregational Church will present a performance by the award-winning, Nashville-based Americana/Folk duo the Twangtown Paramours. The husband and wife team of songwriter-instrumentalist Mike Lewis and vocalist MaryBeth Zamer have toured nationally with their Nashville/Austin mix of songs that are alternately poetic, socially conscious, and funny. Their swings through Vermont have included the Spruce Peak Arts Center at Stowe, Killington, Woodstock, and Marlboro. They have worked with the likes of Jimmie Dale Gilmore and the late Eva Cassidy. Their albums have made top-ten charts in New York and Chicago, individual songs have been released in the U.K. and Korea (where they scored with a near-million-selling #1 hit), and their recent "Widow of the Mountain" made #15 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart this past April. Come prepared for an evening of superbly crafted songs, fine musicianship, top-notch singing, and humorous banter.
This will be the second event in thirty-ninth Summer Performance Series that will run on Friday evenings until August 10 at the historic, but handicapped accessible, 1838 meetinghouse in Salisbury Village. There is no admission charge; a free-will donation in support of the series will be appreciated. Any receipts in excess of the expenses for the series will be applied to the continuing restoration of Salisbury's landmark meetinghouse.
