The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, research, and recreation of the crafts, arts, and experiences of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Unlike a renaissance Faire, the SCA is participatory - no one is simply a spectator. At SCA events, all the attendees play a part in creating the atmosphere by recreating whatever aspects of the Middle Ages and Renaissance interest them most.
At the Stowe Renaissance Faire demo, the SCA's Shire of Mountain Freehold will offer a chance for you to see what the SCA has to offer with no expectation to participate. You can stop by to ask questions, look over the art and science display, or see one of the martial activities, heavy list (armored fighting) and fencing at 10:30am and 2pm on each day of the Faire.
