On Saturday, June 23, at 10 am, the public is invited to the dedication of the Royal Baird Memorial at the junction of Stoney Hill Road, West Road, and Hitchcock Rd, adjacent to the Chittenden/Pittsford town line. Royal Baird was Chittenden's first casualty in World War II. The memorial stone and a flagpole were originally established in the center of this intersection in the 1950's but, due to increased traffic, the original site was deemed no longer suitable in the 1970's. The original memorial stone and a new commercial grade flagpole have been installed at a new site by local volunteers. Please join us as we dedicate the Royal Baird Memorial at its new home on land donated to the town of Chittenden by Bill and Charlene Duffy.
