Hi all,

My name is Laura Mahoney and I'm an operating room nurse at UVMMC. You may have heard that we're negotiating for a contract that secures safe staffing and quality patient care at the hospital, and that last week we voted 94% to authorize a strike if necessary. Our union is seeking to establish a community medical center that truly cares and values both its patients and employees. Currently UVMMC is overly focused on increasing profits through taking advantage of the community with low wages and far higher than necessary costs to patients.
