New England Wild Flower Society is launching its Pollinate New England initiative to raise awareness of the steep decline in the insects, birds, and other animals that pollinate our plants and crops, and to encourage people to use native plants in their gardens to create habitat for these critical species. People in all six New England states will have access to free workshops, lectures, and online resources focused on teaching them how to build beautiful gardens that feed and house New England's native pollinators.
At twelve public sites across New England, the Society will install pollinator gardens and train participants to do the same in their own backyards. Education about pollinators and pollinator-friendly gardens continues in a free public lecture the same evening.
Jericho, VT has been chosen as one of the two Vermont locations for this program. Our workshops are on Thursday, August 2, 2018. Please register by visiting the Jericho Conservation Commission page on the Town website. Jerichovt.gov Registration is not limited to residents – invite your friends from other towns.
For even more resources on how to garden for pollinators, including a free self-paced online course, please visit www.newenglandwild.org
And remember, you can tour local Jericho pollinator gardens on July 28th with the Jericho Community Center Garden Tour.
