Great Opportunity for People Who Love Photography

Next Monday, June 18th, offers a great opportunity to any photo buffs in our community — please join us at 7PM to see the work of and hear from John Snell and Rob Spring, the Montpelier photographers behind the "Big Pictures" show of large black & white portraits at the White Meeting House in Waterbury Village.

The large size of the portraits is extraordinarily captivating — the viewer is drawn to the faces and it feels almost like a personal interaction. The photos capture something magical about the relationships and connections between people. Even though we don't know all the individuals in the photos, the feelings and experiences expressed in their body language are universal.

The story John and Rob will share that night, of how the project was conceived and executed — in terms of technical as well as human issues — is really part of what makes the show so special, and so accessible. Inspired by the internationally known photographer and activist JR, John and Rob set up a temporary studio at the Montpelier Farmers Market, posed over one hundred groups of people, and blew up the images to display on the side of buildings in downtown Montpelier.

I know you will be inspired by John and Rob's artwork, their joyful energy, and their warm demeanors. Please join us! The event is free and open to people of all ages. Contact Torrey Smith at 244-8581 or torreycsmith@yahoo.com with any questions.
