Back in the day, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Chautauqua movement was highly popular. This movement brought education, entertainment and culture to rural towns across America. Noted fiddler and entertainer Adam Boyce, a 10th generation Vermonter will be portraying Charles Ross Taggart, "Vermont's Traveling Entertainer" in the Municipal Building's Steele Room, Tuesday evening, June 12th at 7 O'Clock. Taggart was a musician, humorist, and story-teller who made over 40 recordings of his "Old Country Fiddler" in the late 1800's/early 1900's. Boyce portrays Taggart near the end of his career, c. 1936 sharing recollections of his life interspersed with humorous sketches and lots of live fiddling. Boyce is a noted fiddler in his own right, and a composer of over 100 fiddle tunes. He is also a published author, with "The Man from Vermont: Charles Ross Taggart, the Old Country Fiddler" published in 2013 by History Press. As a Living History Presenter, Adam Boyce promises to entertain and educate.
