The Inclusionary Zoning Work Group was created by the Council last September. It was charged with reviewing recommendations in a consultant's report and suggesting how the City should proceed on each of them. This is an advisory group only, with no power to actually change the ordinance. It includes a broad range of perspectives and experience in working with our Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance, from for- and non-profit developers to affordable housing advocates and City staff.
The IZWG will present its recommendations and hold a public hearing about them on Monday, June 11, 5:30-7:00, in Conference Room 12 of City Hall. The full report (long document, look for the recommendations section) is on the CEDO page, under Housing/Inclusionary Zoning Work Group. This is also where you will find past agendas and meeting minutes.
After the public hearing, the Work Group will meet (June 18) to discuss what we heard, make any changes to the recommendations based on the public hearing, and finalize our report to the Council. This item may be on the June 25 City Council agenda. I expect the Report will be referred to one or two committees (Ordinance and Community Development and Neighborhood Revitalization). If you can't make it on Monday, please email me your thoughts. There will also be lots of opportunity for public comment once it gets into the Council's hands.
