At 4:00 on June 23rd the Museum welcomes Andrea Rand of Connecticut State University for her talk on Native American Pottery. After being active in Ct archaeological studies, Ms. Rand has developed a special interest in replicative techniques of coiled pot construction. The presentation will focus on these techniques as used by the prehistoric native cultures of New England. She will also briefly discuss pottery that was recovered by archaeological excavation and by collectors of Native American artifacts in Vermont and how these recovered artifacts help the archaeologist to recreate a culture that disappeared thousands of years ago. Ms. Rand has recently moved to Halifax VT from Connecticut and is eager to share her knowledge and passion with us. For more information or to reserve a seat, contact the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum at 464-0048 or vermontmuseum@gmail.com
