Ben Balivet is an original Alaskan songwriter. He has played venues all over the world and is presently releasing his third album: "Yesterday's Smile". The songs on his most recent album range from "experimental" to straight up rock-n-roll blues, folk and jazz. With influences such as Tom Waits, The Replacements, Bob Mould, Bob Dylan, and the Police, Ben's music comes from the heart but is always delivered with his signature humor and quirky style. Never un-interesting, Ben likens songwriting to car mechanics. He says "You can always take a part from this car and put it on that one and add a few custom made parts and come up with something totally original. You can only get better at song writing if you keep the scraps of unused or discarded songs in a corner for later use when the right bit of lyric or song concept comes into your brain. Out of the ether comes all this....! Wow! Like a gift falling from the sky! Like a Buick flying a million miles an hour, windshield wipers slapping back and forth madly, horn blaring and lights on high beams! Wow! Here comes another!!!" Ben is always searching for his next big inspiration... Ben says "Writing a good song can leave you floating on a cloud of awesomeness for days, months, weeks... even years. Its addicting!"
