Ruth Porter reads from her novel Unexpected Grace at the Woodbury Community Library,
Wednesday, June 20, 2018, 6:30 pm.
This Adamant author reads a selection from her exquisitely lyrical Vermont-based novel, with a multigenerational cast of characters and themes including cancer, unemployment, and love of land. She also shares the story of the independent publishing company she and her husband, Bill Porter, created in 2005 — Bar Nothing Books — and answers questions from writers who are curious about her publishing experience and resources.
Author of three novels and a nonfiction work about her famous grandfather, editor Maxwell Perkins, Porter raised four children, while farming and growing most of the family's food. Her family has lived in Adamant since 1972.
