The Outreach Ministry Team of the United Community Church , in conjunction with Catamount Arts, is sponsoring a FREE screening of the acclaimed documentary, Alive Inside, on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Catamount Arts Center theater. After the screening, there will be a brief discussion about possible options for implementing this program in our community. This documentary follows social worker Dan Cohen, founder of the NPO Music and Memory, as he fights to demonstrate music's ability in helping to combat memory loss and restore a sense of self to those suffering from such loss. He visits nursing homes across the country bringing music on iPods to patients afflicted with dementia, this reawakening their emotions and memories. Filmmaker Rossato Bennett visits family members who have witnessed the effects on their loved ones and offers interviews with experts including renowned neurologist and author Oliver Sacks (Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain) and Bobby McFerrin ("Don't Worry, Be Happy").
