Working with a variety of materials, ranging from an assortment of papers to twigs, yarn, and feathers, participants will assemble these elements to create pleasing, integrated compositions. Assemblage is related to collage with a three dimensional component, and can be very innovative and a contemporary approach to making art.
The art of assemblage is similar to collage but also consists of 3 dimensional elements. These 3 dimensional elements are usually "found objects". These can include: fabric, metal, buttons, nails, cardboard, tubes, stones, feathers, twigs/branches etc.
For the workshop the instructor will be supplying...
- the backing surface...mat board/ foam board for your creations
- interesting papers
- yarn
- scissors
- a few xacto knives
- feathers
- some "found stuff"
- oil pastels
You are invited to bring whatever you may find interesting to work with...other interesting papers, photographs, textural materials (like onion sacks), fabric, stones...anything that appeals to your fun, creative self. If you have an xacto or mat knife do bring it.
Note from the instructor: "I use a polymer medium to adhere objects/ paper etc to my surfaces. This medium is relatively expensive but it's strong, quick drying, and transparent.
Instead of asking you to spend $$ for your own supply I can bring what I have to share but may ask for a few $$ donation to help me replenish my supply. Or if you have an adhesive medium that you prefer please bring that. "
