As publicized by Superintendent Obeng and discussed on FPF over the past few months, the Burlington School District has proposed to build two new buildings as part of their 10 year Capital Plan. One of the new buildings would be located behind Champlain Elementary and host early education and district offices. You can read more about the plan here: http://www.bsdvt.org/district/budget/capital-planning/. District officials and school board members have been sharing details and seeking feedback across the entire city, including at PTO and NPA meetings. Over the next few weeks, I anticipate that the school board will be asked to make a formal decision about the two new buildings.
I have had many conversations and received many emails from the community about the plan, but I want to ensure everyone has an opportunity to give feedback. So I will be at Feldman's bagels (660 Pine St) this Sunday June 3rd from 9:00am to 11:00am. Come to share your thoughts about the capital plan and the proposed buildings or just to consume morning nourishment and listen to others.
