SKY WARN TALK by the National Weather Service

The National Weather Service, Burlington, Vermont, office (NOAA) will be presenting a Sky Warn talk at the Marshfield Fire Department on March 11 at 7:00 p.m.

The talk will present several things:

First it will allow attendees to become trained spotters for the National Weather Service. It is very helpful to the Burlington office to have real time local reports during storms.

The talk will also be addressing climate and past and future weather trends.

This talk is sponsored by the Marshfield Fire Department. The Fire Department is the site of the Town of Marshfield's Emergency Operations Center. The building has a generator to provide full emergency operations during any emergency, such as power outages, storms, flooding, etc.

The Fire Department also has radio communications with State Police, State Agency of Transporation, and the State Emergency Management office as well as an amateur radio station. It also is the control point for the town wide radio repeater and has a weather warn receiver that re-broadcasts emergency alerts from the NOAA radio on Mt. Mansfield.

There is a weather station at the fire house that can be accessed on the web via the Weather Underground site, www.wunderground.com KVTMARSH1. This station not only gives current readings, but information on the past days and months. The information is updated every five minutes.
