The 1st service of the 2018 season is this Sunday, May 27, 7 PM, at the Old North Church in the woods of North Danville. Come to this historic building built in 1832 for a special Memorial Day Service with guest speaker Thom Anderson, Associate Academic Dean for Northern Vermont University at Lyndon. He is the adviser to the NVU Veterans Association.
Thom hails from Illinois but moved to Vermont in 2008 after being hired as a Professor at Lyndon State College in the Mountain Recreation Management department. He organizes the Annual Veterans Summit held each year at Lyndon.
Thom served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1981-1985 as a cook, serving meals to Marines at Camp Pendleton, Camp Lejeune, Okinawa, South Korea, aboard the USS Cleveland, and on numerous field assignments. He is a life member of the VFW and a member of the Marine Corps Strong-Muller Detachment. He also served in Morocco with the Peace Corps and as the Center Director for the United Seamen's Service in Casablanca.
