Grow Your Own Shiitake Mushrooms with Carol Fairbank

Join us for a fun afternoon inoculating your own shiitake log to take home. Shiitakes are nutritious, delicious, and easy to grow indoors or out. In this hands-on workshop, we'll demonstrate how to inoculate hardwood logs with shiitake plug spawn. We'll discuss proper care and maintenance, along with some tips and tricks to encourage fruiting. It may take a year or more to begin fruiting, but once logs are colonized, with proper care you can expect to enjoy several years of harvests. Cost is $25 per finished log.
