The Monkton Museum and Historical Society will hold a Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Barnumtown Cemetery on Monkton Road. The graves of soldiers buried in the cemetery will be visited and information read about their service to our country.
Because of the lack of parking at the cemetery, attendees are asked to meet at the Park and Ride area near the Monkton Central School in order to make maximum use of carpooling. Please arrive by 1:45 p.m. to accommodate the carpooling arrangements and the drive to the cemetery. Parking will be along the east side of Old Stage Road.
Please remember insect repellent or bug-baffler-type apparel as well as comfortable shoes for walking along Old Stage Road and in the cemetery.
In the event of rain, the observance will be held at the Monkton Town Hall.
Whether or not you will be able to join us, please take some time on Monday to remember those men and women who have served our country in the military.
