Memorial Day Observances

Dear Fellow Guilfordians,

As we approach the Memorial Day weekend, I invite you to joint in the observances and the ceremonies that will be going on in our area to recognize our deceased veterans.

Monday, 28 May

In Brattleboro:
9:00- 11:00 – The American Legion, the VFW, and the Marine Corps League will hold a series of observances at the cemeteries and the memorial bridges around Brattleboro. A bus will leave the Legion parking lot at 9:00 and will proceed to the following locations. Please join us on the bus or follow along as we move around town.
• Kyle Gilbert Memorial Bridge (Near Coop) - Service by VFW
• Prospect Hill Cemetery – Service by VFW
• St. Michael's Cemetery – Service by the Marine Corps League
• Veterans Bridge: Naval Memorial Service – Services by Legion and VFW Auxiliaries
• Locust Ridge Cemetery – Services by the American Legion

11:00 – There will be a ceremony on the Brattleboro Common with music provided by the American Legion Band. In the event of rain that morning the 11:00 ceremony will be held in the Legion Hall.

Following the ceremony on the Common, the Legion Auxiliary is hosting a potluck lunch in the Legion Hall. Please consider joining us for lunch and feel free to bring a dish to contribute.

In Guilford
5PM – An observance will be held in the Christ Church Cemetery. The Legion color guard will provide a rifle salute and taps

Wednesday, 30 May

In Dummerston
6:30 PM The Morning Star Grange will hold a traditional Memorial Day observance that will include the Legion Band. The event will be held in the Grange Hall.
