A hearing will be held at the Calais town office on Thursday, June 7th at 6:00pm for the purpose of determining whether the town road crew may remove trees in the public right of way along Apple Hill Road.

Nine maple trees have been proposed for removal, which range in size from seven to twelve inches in diameter. They are marked with blue flagging tape and are located along the northern end of the class 4 section of the road, on the steep hill between house numbers 968 and 1107, west of the roadway. Their removal would allow the road crew to take advantage of a state grant to construct a ditch, preventing further erosion of the road and sedimentation of the stream at the base of the hill.
