Cannibal Giant in Chelsea

Past event
May 24, 2018, 6:30 to 8:30 PM

SafeArt and BALE (Building A Local Economy) host a very special event on Thu., May 24 at 6:30 PM at Altus (292 VT-110) in Chelsea. It's a movie and powerful talk by Sherri Mitchell, indigenous rights lawyer, activist and author. First off, view a 45-minute documentary film (produced by BALE) that features Sherri entitled "Dancing with the Cannibal Giant: Five New Stories for the Great Transition." This film seeks to tackle the very real question of how we get beyond a sense of disempowerment… in our ability to shape the world in a better way… and begin to step into our human capacity to create a new narrative for ourselves, our communities and the world. Stories like the ones in this film – and many others – are a key element in building that capacity. After a film discussion dialogue with participants, Sherri will read from her new book, Sacred Instructions: Indigenous Wisdom for Living Spirit-Based Change, and talk from her perspective on the Penobscot prophecy the film's title is based… the Cannibal Giant. Free. For more info, contact Chris at chris@balevt.org.
