Annual Neighborhood Sales/Pot-Luck

Past event

Save the Date:

This is a reminder that our 39th annual neighborhood garage sales and pot-luck will be on Saturday, June 2nd. As has been the case in previous years, the sales will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at neighbors' houses. The pot-luck dinner will be held on Brandywine Street beginning at 5:00 p.m. The permit for closing Brandywine Street during the dinner is in process, an ad for the sales will run in the newspaper at and just before the day of the sales, those funky signs created by former neighbor Susanne Whyte will go up in a day or two, and fliers about the event are being distributed door-to-door. (If anyone can lend a hand with the fliers in the Van Patten Parkway area or can bring a grill to the dinner, please let me know.)

One of our most senior neighbors, 96 year-old Ray Campbell is hoping to join us again this year. It was nearly 68 years ago when he moved into his home on Brandywine Street. Maurice and Margaret Vercoe and Mary Ellen Palmer of Village Green and Nancy Parker of Saratoga Avenue are also members of the 60 year club. Whom am I missing?
How nice it would be to have them join us and the many children in our neighborhood and their families, too. Let's continue the tradition of having this be a multi-generational event. It's always nice to welcome back former neighbors Ted and Joyce George, too. Ted is our neighborhood historian and always has interesting stories to tell. Of course, the best part is welcoming new neighbors, as our area continues to evolve and strives to be a safe and supportive place for all.
