June 1 & 2: Nurses' Rally and Healthcare Jamboree

Past event
Jun 1, 2018

Hi neighbors,

Please mark your calendars for two important events in the fight for healthcare justice and a human rights economy.

Friday, June 1st, 5pm — Rally for a Fair Contract at UVM Medical Center

Join UVMMC nurses for a rally following their last scheduled bargaining session with management. Nurses are calling on administrators to reduce patient wait times and delays in care by prioritizing the recruitment and retention of high quality nurses and support staff over lavish buildings and high-flying executive salaries.

Meet at 5pm at the McClure entrance on Colchester Ave - Click here for updates: https://www.facebook.com/events/302107503661250/

Saturday, June 2nd, 4pm - 7pm — Poor People's Campaign Healthcare Jamboree

Join the Healthcare is a Human Right Campaign for an evening of discussion, food, art and music as a contribution to the new Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.

The original Poor People's Campaign was launched in 1968 by Martin Luther King, Jr and allies, and sought to unite poor folks across race, geography and religion into a powerful movement for human rights in America. Today, organizers in over 30 states are reviving the Poor People's Campaign by holding 40 days of direct action to challenge the intertwined evils of systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, and ecological devastation.

Join us on June 2nd to understand how these pillars, along with a 5th pillar of patriarchy, combine to deny millions of people access to the care they need — and how we can unite folks who are struggling into a powerful moral movement to transform society and our healthcare system.

The Jamboree will be held at the Outright Vermont space (Multigenerational Center), 241 N. Winooski Ave. Click here for updates: https://www.facebook.com/events/203198037148841/

Hope to see you there!
solidarity,
Keith
