Dear Neighbors,
This Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of May. We will begin our evening at 5:30pm with a site visit regarding the Champlain Parkway. The Council will board a bus for an examination of the premises with stops along the way.
The first item on our deliberative agenda, once we return to City Hall, is a necessity hearing to lay out and/or alter a public highway known as the Champlain Parkway.
We have four other items on our deliberative agenda.
The first item is a second reading on a proposed change to our ordinance regarding regulation of security alarm systems. The change is an increase in the yearly monitoring fee from $36 to $60. This is the first increase in ten years.
We will then have two presentations: one on the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan for the Fletcher Free Library. The second is a presentation on the Bank and Cherry Street Improvements Conceptual Design.
Our last item is a resolution regarding resident parking. The resolution asks for the Department of Public Works to report to the City Council by August 13 on the status of implementing each of the eight new and modified strategies recommended in the Residential Management Study. Further, it asks the City Assessor to report to the Council in August on whether or not property values are increased in neighborhoods and streets with restricted residential parking.
You are always welcome to come to a Council meeting and speak on any topic you wish during public forum. This begins at a time certain of 7:30 at every Council meeting.
