Mark your calendar! On June 2, from 9-1, we'll be holding the second annual X Out Xotics roadside weed pull. Just like last year, we'll focus on two invasive exotic plants--poison parsnip and wild chervil. Pulling really makes a difference with these species, which are biennials (unlike Japanese knotweed, which is a perennial and just keeps on coming...).June is the perfect time to pull them--the soil's moist from all the spring rain, and they're flowering--easy to spot but not yet gone to seed.
We'll meet at the Lincoln sports field pavilion at 9:00 AM. Wear long sleeves and pants and close-toed shoes. Bring gloves if you have them, but gloves will also be available. We'll have ID sheets, plus live plants, so you know what to pull. We'll provide a yummy lunch between 12:00 and 1:00 PM, and we'll have plenty of prizes too! It's helpful to us to have an idea of how many might be coming--you can let us know by simply responding to this post. Thanks, and see you there! Sponsored by the Lincoln Conservation Commission.
