Turtle Rescue 911 Class

Past event
May 12, 2018, 10 to 11:30 AM

The Turtle Rescue League is coming to the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum this Saturday (May 12)! Nesting season is fast approaching when all of our wild turtles leave the safety of their natural habitats to find suitable nesting areas. This takes them across busy streets, through our neighborhoods and even into our backyards. This journey often leads to injuries caused by cars, pets, and people. Join us at 10:00am to learn how we can help our native turtles during their most vulnerable time of year.

Learn why turtles are in trouble, and why every turtle counts! Arm yourself with the knowledge to help out and know what to do when you come across a nesting turtle, a baby turtle, a turtle in a spot that does not seem to have water, and of course an injured turtle. We will be covering what a concerned motorist should be keeping in their car and the steps to get the turtle the help it needs.

The Turtle Rescue League will bring along some rescued turtles so that you can meet some native turtles in person! Come join us and make a difference!
