About the Montpelier Community Gospel Choir....
The choir shares with the community the joy, hope and inspiration that it experiences through music. Formed in 1994, MCGC is dedicated to singing gospel music in the African-American tradition, as well as music inspired by the tradition. While firmly rooted in gospel, MCGC is a secular choir with members from all over central and northern Vermont. The choir is accompanied by a full band comprised of local professional musicians. The choir strives to celebrate and honor gospel's rich native choral heritage, and its power to move people spiritually and to create a profound sense of community. We honor the many thousands of singers who brought this music to us through unspeakable hardship and faith.

The choir's spring concerts are sponsored by Southgate Steeplejacks, Tall Paul's Tall Mall, Villari's Martial Arts of Barre, New England Oral Surgery, The Snell Group,
and L. Brown & Sons.
MCGC is also supported by the Montpelier Community Fund, the Vermont Community Foundation, Montpelier Alive, and the New York Community Trust.
