The season finale of the family-friendly Cabot square and contra dance is next Saturday, May 12, at 7:30 in the Willey Building, so come and celebrate the long-awaited arrival of spring! Karen Mueller-Harder will call for most of the evening and Luc Laroche all the way from France will call sets of Quebecois social dances. Karen is a local Cabot caller who's dedicated to creating a welcoming and fun time for everyone, and Luc is a long time caller originally from Quebec. Live music will be provided by David Carpenter and the Hull's Union Victory String Band. No experience or partner necessary: all ages and abilities are welcome, and there will be an extra newcomers' session at 7:15 if you'd like to learn and practice a bit before the dance begins.

On Vermont Edition today, there was a great show all about contra dancing, including a bit about its history and why people who try it love it so much! The episode is available on the web at: http://digital.vpr.net/post/square-contra-and-henry-ford-history-and-lasting-appeal-country-dancing
