Help Save Spring Flowers at Shelburne Bay Park!

Past event
May 12, 2018, 2 to 4 PM

Come help with pulling the invasive garlic mustard plant, save our native plant and animal life, meet your neighbors, green up the beautiful woods surrounding Allen Hill AND bring some home to make delicious garlic mustard recipes.

What's happening?: It's time for the 5th Annual Garlic Mustard Eradication Day at Shelburne Bay Park! For the past 4 years, community volunteers, including CVU HS students, have successfully spent a few hours pulling these invasive plants at Shelburne Bay Park. This year Boy Scout Troop 602 will be helping too!!

I can say with 100% certainty that if we didn't start this eradication program 5 years ago at Shelburne Bay Park, the garlic mustard, an invasive, by now would have taken over the native spring flowers that thrive on Allen Hill and the surrounding area. Though we will never be able to completely eradicate it, we can keep things under control if enough people lend their hand on an annual basis.

When: Saturday afternoon May 12th from 2 to 4 PM
Where: 1st parking lot next to the road at Shelburne Bay Park (not at the boat launch).

How: Volunteers only need to bring gardening gloves. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes to discourage ticks (light clothes, hats, pants tucked into socks). All other supplies will be provided.

Contact: Fran Cohen at 802-598-2511, or fdcohen17@gmail.com to RSVP or for more information (or just show up!).
