The buck stops with him, and it is no small task to keep his finger on the forest’s pulse. On Sunday, February 16 at 4 pm, Mike will present a lecture titled “Vermont’s Forests: Connecting People, Place & Time” at the Univ. of Vermont Aiken Building, room 102 for Branch Out Burlington’s winter seminar, co-sponsored by Burlington’s Parks & Recreation Department. Over 80% of Vermont’s area is covered with forest, and it is Mike’s job to make sure our forests are healthy and productive, and continue to contribute significant revenue to the state’s citizens. He is also our state’s official foliage forecaster, but there’s not too much call for that right now! He will share his thoughts about the important role of trees for the working landscape and will draw links between the forest trees that cover our mountainsides and those that populate our cities.
