Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We still have a few spots open for tomorrow's lovework at the Big Barn. If you've been curious to see what the beautiful 19th century "Big Barn" on the Clemmons Family Farm looks like inside, and have work gloves and long pants, and are ready to have some fun lifting, carrying and relocating things around and out of the Big Barn, please join Eliot Lothrop of Building Heritage and Shanta Lee Gander, of the "A Sense of Place" project. You'll work with a fun group of community volunteers to help sort through all of the treasures and trash.
This lovework will help Eliot and his crew to get ready for the preservation work that will begin later in May to repair the Big Barn and to save the beautiful old 13-foot wooden cistern that hides within one of the barn's many delightful nooks and crannies.
Volunteers will have a tour of the Big Barn and learn a whole lot of fascinating historic barn lore from Eliot, who preserves historic barns throughout Vermont in collaboration with the Vermont Division of Preservation. Jack Clemmons will no doubt make a cameo appearance to see how things are going and share a story or two about his beloved old barn.
When: Thursday May 3, 2018 from 9 - 12 noon. Meeting Place: The Big Barn across the street from 2158 Greenbush Road, Charlotte Vermont.
