Girls on the Run Vermont (GOTRVT) will host it's Southern Vermont 5k celebration taking place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12th at the Brattleboro Union High School. This celebratory event, is the culmination of GOTRVT's 10-week after school empowerment program for local girls in grades 3-8, and is open to the public.

The community is encouraged to support the girls as runners or sideline supporters, though the event still needs 100 more volunteers to help make the day a success. From face painting/hair spraying and handing out beads to equipment setup and breakdown, there are many opportunities to get involved. Individuals, families and groups—school clubs, sports teams, etc.—can sign up in advance to volunteer at www.gotrvt.org/volunteer. Community service hours are offered for high schoolers.
