Green Up Day is this Saturday, May 5th. Last year 22,000 people volunteered and over 50,000 green bags of trash were cleaned from Vermont roadsides.

You can pick up your Green Up bags at the Town Manager's office and Richard Brochu's garage in Hardwick, or D & L Convenience Store and Hay's Garage in East Hardwick. Saturday, volunteers will be at the Fire Station in Hardwick from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and at the Grange in East Hardwick from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m to collect the trash and send it on its way. This collection is for roadside trash only, not household trash.

We've received prize donations for a Green Up Day raffle from Buffalo Mountain Food Co-op, Perennial Pleasures Nursery, Positive Pie, The Clip Joint, Whistle Emporium and the Galaxy Bookshop. You will receive a raffle ticket for every bag of roadside trash that you bring to one of the drop off locations. Take your picture while greening up and post it on the Rec Committee Facebook page and you will receive an additional raffle ticket. Winners will be drawn at 3:00.
