Richard Ruane & Beth Duquette CD Release May 5 - Ripton

Past event
May 5, 2018, 7:30 to 10 PM

Please join us Saturday May 5th for a Full band CD Release concert with
Richard Ruane and Beth Duquette.

For this special show they will be joined by musicians who collaborated on the new recording. Mitch Barron, bassist with Richard and Beth's band Bread and Bones will be performing as well as Phil Henry on percussion, trumpet, melodica and banjo, Michael Chorney, electric guitar, Wendy Sassafras Ramsey, clarinet and accordion, Matt Flinner, mandolin, Jeffrey Pepper Rogers, guitar and Alice Weston, tuba.

They perform primarily original music with a clear traditional-roots influence that is steeped in tradition, but of it's own time. They're known for strong, imaginative vocals and harmonies, often compared to classic sibling harmony duos. Ruane provides an inventive instrumental backing on guitars, octave mandolin and ukulele.

Richard Ruane's songwriting has received wide recognition. He has been a finalist or award-winner at the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition, the Great Waters Music Festival Songwriter Contest, the Plowshares Coffeehouse Singer-Songwriter Competition, the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and the SolarFest Songwriter Showcase.

"Ruane is adept at the fine art of storytelling put to song. His originals speak to different shades of love, joy, mystery and real life."
Terry Lickona - producer of Austin City Limits

"Ruane is a talented storyteller, painting whole scenes with his lyrics. Duquette has a lovely voice, and her soulfulness shines through."
Robert Resnik – Vermont's Seven Days

"Duquette's and Ruane's voices weave delightfully through each other and the music."
Herb van der Poll - Vermont's Seven Days
