TRIP #1
Who Goes There? Animal Tracking for Families
Soft snow keeps a clear record of every animal that leaves a trail of tracks. We’ll take a close look at the tracks left by creatures in the Northeast Kingdom and learn to recognize clues for identifying animals by their signature prints. Come and join museum educators Bobby Farlice-Rubio and Leila Nordmann for a family-friendly nature walk tracking animals in the snow.
TRIP #2
Winter Adaptations:
Have you ever wondered how black-capped chickadees, which weigh about the same as two quarters, stay warm when it’s 20 below? Or why birch trees have bark that peels? If so, join Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation’s County Forester Matt Langlais and Eye on the Sky’s Steve Maleski for a deeper dive deeper into the science and fascinating local examples of winter adaptations.
