Dear Friends,
Since the 2014 legislative session began, lawmakers in the state Senate have listened to hours of expert testimony as committee members work to decide the future of Vermont’s GMO labeling bill, H.112.
Now they want to hear from you! Please join the GMO Right to Know Coalition on February 6 for a public hearing on H.112.
Members of both the Senate Agriculture and Senate Judiciary committees will be present at the hearing to listen to your arguments for GMO labeling. These committees will determine the outcome of GMO labeling legislation in Vermont and they need to hear from constituents like you!
Rain, shine or blizzard, the hearing will be held on February 6 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Vermont State House in Montpelier. If you plan on testifying, you must arrive early to sign up to testify in person. We’ve been told that the sign-up sheet for testimony will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. In the past the line to sign up has been long and testimony has been taken in the order of the sign-up sheet, so please plan accordingly. Sign up to attend the hearing here: http://www.vpirg.org/gmo/.
This hearing is our best chance to stand together and prove to lawmakers that Vermont is ready to pass strong and clear GMO legislation. We hope to see you on February 6!
In addition to testifying at the hearing, or if you are unable to attend, you can send a message to your Senator to support H.112 for GMO labeling in Vermont.
