ACUPUNCTURE- ITS HISTORY & THEORY, Tuesday, May 9 from 6:30 - 8PM

The use of Chinese medicine goes back thousands of years. Currently its ideas are among the most studied subjects within the medical community. However, Chinese medicine is viewed in the west as something mystical due to its use of esoteric terms like Qi, yin-yang and invasions of wind. Travis Beto from OPEN Community Acupuncture will present "Acupuncture - Its History & Theory" at the Waterbury Library, Tuesday evening, May 9th from 6:30-8 pm. He will discuss Chinese medical ideas, touching briefly on its history and demystifying its basic theory. Beto will also provide participants with self-care techniques, some specific and some general rules to apply for oneself. This discussion will be pulled heavily from Donald E Kendall's "Dao of Chinese Medicine" and Richard Tan's "Acupuncture 1, 2, 3".
