Rural Vermont's Pitchfork Series continues with "Roadmap to the Statehouse" on Friday, April 27th from 10am-2pm at the Vermont Statehouse. The event will include a Statehouse orientation, introduction to the legislative process, tips for effective citizen advocacy, and a briefing on pending and passed bills of impact to small farmers and their communities. There will also be a "meet & greet" with lawmakers and constituents, followed by meetings with legislators over lunch. All who value Vermont's working landscape are invited to attend.
To make it easier for farmers to participate in the "Roadmap to the Statehouse", Rural Vermont will offer stipends to help farmers cover costs associated with childcare, temporary farm labor, and transportation.
"Roadmap to the Statehouse" is a free event and open to all. More information, RSVP (highly encouraged), and farmer stipend applications can be accessed at www.ruralvermont.org or by calling (802) 223-7222.
