About our guest performers...

* * * The BCO Concerto Competition Winner * * *

The winner of the concerto competition this year is Miriam Viazmenski and she will perform the first movement (Allegro) of the Concerto in D major, No. 4, K. 218, by W.A. Mozart at our May 12 concert.

Miriam Viazmenski is a ninth-grader at Hanover High School in New Hampshire. She began violin studies at age three at the Upper Valley Music Center. Miriam joined the VYOA as a fifth grader and has been a member of the Vermont Youth Orchestra for two years. Currently a student of Letitia Quante, Miriam represented Vermont in the 2018 Eastern Division Junior Strings Competition of the Music Teachers National Association and was accepted into the New England Music Festival Orchestra. Fortunate to be able to make music at home with her family, Miriam has developed a strong interest in chamber music.
She enjoyed several summers at Kinhaven Music School and this year will attend the Young Artist Summer Program at The Curtis Institute.
She has performed in master classes for Joseph Silverstein, Kevin Lawrence, Johnny Gandelsman, and Robyn Bollinger, among others.

As a piano student of Victoria Dobrushina since age six, Miriam performs regularly on the Young Musicians' Recital Series and in year-end theatrical performances. Miriam's passions also include ballet and singing. A member of the children's chorus for many seasons at Opera North, she played the title role in their 2016 production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Outside of the arts, Miriam can be found with her math team, or in the lab with her science research partners at the NH Academy of Science.

* * * Bella Voce Women's Chorus * * *

To conclude this season-long celebration of women in music, we have invited Bella Voce Women's Chorus of Vermont, under the direction of Founder and Artistic Director Dr. Dawn O. Willis, to help us highlight the choral music of Vermont composer Gwyneth Walker. In
2007 Bella Voce released a CD of Walker's music for women's voices entitled "Now Let Us Sing!" This excellent women's chorus has appeared with the orchestra before: in our March 2010 performance of Vivaldi's "Gloria." We are honored to have this talented group of women back to help us highlight this important music.
