Have you been a victim of a fraud or scam over the internet? If you have, you are in good company. In 2017, in Vermont alone, there has been over a 400% increase in the number of scams reported to the Vermont Attorney General's office- over 7000 reported scams or one reported scam to every 80 residents. Elliott Greenblott, AARP's Vermont Fraud Watch Network Coordinator is doing something about these statistics. On Monday, April 30th at 6 pm, Greenblott will present "Fraud, Scams, and Con Artists: Coming to a Computer Near You" at the Waterbury Library. Greenblott provides an overview of crimes committed on the internet and of personal protection steps you can take. Arming yourself with knowledge is the first defense against being victimized. Increase your understanding of the national and Vermont issue by attending this program hosted by the Waterbury Library and presented by AARP.
